EMP Lotuss Vortex

The second generation vortex unit for the EMP System is modelled on the LOTUSS vortex system.

It enhances the original EMP vortex to accept even lighter gauge scraps with very effective submergence rates. It also enhances the feed rate capability past that of the previous limit. Recent trials have shown feed rates in excess of 15 tonnes per hour of de-coated UBC are possible provided that the furnace has the burner capability to maintain bath temperature. It also ensures there is no surface flotation of scrap after charging.

Scrap is instantly wetted and submerged, provides a shear force to break up surface tension of the oxide layer - world class metal yield from clean dry light gauge scrap.

The new hybrid vortex, for direct charge (dry hearth furnaces) allows for the same benefits for furnaces which drain completely each heat. This new vortex design provides quick start-ups.
